The National Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy urges the government and all non-governmental actors to ensure respect for human rights in Sudan. These rights include (although they are not limited to):
- the right to life
- the right no to be tortured
- the right not to be arbitrarily arrested or detained
- the right to health care
- the right to a fair trial
- the right to work and to proper work conditions
- the right to education
- the right to the freedoms of expression, assembly and association, including the right to demonstrate
- the right to participate in the government of one's country
- the freedom of religion
- the freedom of movement
These rights are found in treaties that form international law that is legally binding on the government of Sudan. These treaties include:
- International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights
- International Covenant of Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
- African Charter of Human and Peoples' Rights
- International Convention for the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimnation
- Convention relating to the Status of Refugees
- Convention on the Rights of the Child
- International Labour Organization treaties
