Welcome to my Homepage. My name is Mark and I ran in a marathon -- a race covering a distance of 26.2 miles -- thanks everyone so much for all your help.

It was the AIDS Marathon, which was run as part of the U.S. Marine Corps Marathon on October 25, 1998 in Washington, D.C.

The AIDS Marathon --I FINISHED IN 4 hours, 35 minutes!


I ran to raise money to provide advanced drug therapies which are keeping people with HIV and AIDS alive. These new drugs, called protease inhibitors or AIDS cocktails, are remarkably successful, but expensive. It costs more than $12,000 a year per patient. Many people infected simply can't afford the treatment.

About Me


I'm a 37-year-old man living in Kensington, Md. This is my first marathon, a distance I never thought I could run.

The 6-month training period started the first weekend in May. I've been training 3-4 times a week and running a long run every weekend. On the weekends we ran in pace groups. Members of each pace group support and encourage each other throughout the training program. The people running are gay and straight, young and old. More than 800 people have pledged to raise $1,600 each, and hopefully more.
