5 Easy Steps to Free Advertising! Thank you for your
interest in joining the WBN. If you would like to start
advertising for free on other Washington, DC area web sites,
please do the following:
Make sure that you have a GIF or JPEG banner that is 468 x
60 pixels and is no larger than 15k in size. You will need
to upload it to our server from your computer when signing
up for the WBN. An easy-to-use online form will allow you
to do this with just a few clicks. Animated GIFs are OK
provided that they meet the other requirements above.
Choose a username (one word only, with no spaces) and
password in the form below and click on "Create
Member Profile".
Fill out the short form that follows (it asks for your
name, e-mail address, and web site URL).
Follow the onscreen instructions for uploading your banner
image to our server.
Once you have signed up, copy and paste the HTML code from
the screen onto the pages where you want to dislay the WBN
banners (Windows users can highlight the text and use
CTRL-C to copy it onto the Windows clipboard). Then, paste
it into the HTML code for your pages (Windows users can
use CTRL-V or the "Paste" feature of their text
editor to do this). You will also receive this code in an
e-mail message that will be sent to you after you sign up.
Be sure to change the "page=XX" section of the
code by replacing "XX" with something different
for each separate page where you display the banners (this
prevents caching, and helps you get more credits).
Let's Do It!
What Happens Next?
We will check your banner and then activate your account
within a day or so. At that point, your banner will be
displayed on other web sites (including the Washington, DC
Registry) as a clickable link back to your site!
You needn't wait for us to activate your account to
place the HTML code on your pages. You will begin earning
credits as soon as you place the HTML code on your pages
and begin displaying WBN banners. Prior to the time that
your account is activated, the credits will build up, and
once your account is activated, your banner will be
displayed according to the number of credits that you have
accumulated.
Credits
For each time that you display the WBN banners of other member
sites on your page, you earn one half credit. In other words,
for every two WBN banners that are displayed on your page, your
banner will be displayed at least once on another member site.
The program also checks to make sure that it doesn't waste
your banner credits by displaying your banner on your own page.
Extra credits may be available for those who help us beta test
